On the wall above my studio desk hangs a framed print with the text “Work Hard and Be Nice To People” written on it in big block letters. It was a wedding gift we received from my husband Gregg’s family, and we really took it to heart. As I look back at 2016, it’s clear that we owe the incredibly rewarding experiences we have had to this simple, yet powerful motto.
Being a wedding photographer, it’s easy to live by these words. We have been with so many people during some of the most exciting times of their lives, and they have opened up their hearts to us again and again. We simply love what we do! Not a wedding goes by that we don’t tear up, and you’ll find us grabbing the tissues again while editing the photos! We work in the field of personal relationships, and we are so fortunate to have worked closely with such kind, compassionate, charming, adorable, loving and generous people – year after year!
We are also so lucky to have made such close relationships with other wedding vendors. Our community of colleagues is so supportive and generous, we are honored to call them “friendors”. The talented florists, designers, planners, stylists, hair-and-makeup artists, calligraphers, bakers and caterers we work with are such an inspiration!
We are so proud of the entire team at Emily Wren Photography! We shot more weddings, family and engagement sessions this year than ever before! I was honored to have my photos in print in Destination Weddings Magazine, Philadelphia Weddings Magazine, as well as being selected to represent Pennsylvania in The Knot’s “The Best 50 Weddings Across All 50 States“! Along with many national blog features including Ruffled, Green Wedding Shoes, 100 Layer Cake, and Wedding Chicks!
I am so honored to announce that for the 3rd year in a row, we are recipients of The Knot’s “Best of Weddings” and Wedding Wire’s “Couple’s Choice” award! These distinctions put us amongst the top 2% of wedding professionals across the country and they are especially important to me because they are based entirely on the reviews of all the fabulous couples! I could not be more thankful to all our wonderful couples for their thoughtful and heartfelt reviews and I am so touched to be honored by the couples I have worked with in this way.
Gregg and I realize that we couldn’t have done it without our incredible team. I have been so impressed with my associates Lauri and Gabby. And of course huge thanks to my main second shooters Nick and Ryan, and to Sarah and Caroline for working so hard behind the scenes. We are so grateful to you all! We are also excited to announce our new associate Amber! Amber is a wonderful photographer, and we are so excited to work with her in 2017!
As we take some time to reflect this winter, we are already getting excited for what 2017 has in store. Our calendar is getting full, and we have started making a whole new wave of relationships with some truly amazing people and weddings that will take us to new and exciting places!
Here are some of our favorite photos from the past year. Of course it was impossible to narrow this down, and we simply couldn’t include everything we wanted to. Gregg and I spent hours and hours trying to choose! I have a feeling this problem is only going to get harder next year… and that’s a good thing !
